Burketown Caravan Park is a great base for just relaxing and winding down or for the fishing people, fishing the Albert and Nicholson rivers and the Gulf. For those with boats, Albert River access is available all year round via the public boat ramp 5km out of town. There is plenty of fishing to be done off the banks for those who don't have boats. Different parts of the rivers are accessible via the salt pan in the winter months only.

The Nicholson River has only boat launching from the bank as well as plenty of bank fishing. Karumba tide times are used adding a few hours on, depending on which part of the rivers you are fishing from (approx. 1 hour to mouth, 4 hours to town). Helicopter charters to Sweers Island are available upon request.

We carry a full range of fishing tackle, bait and local information.

For the explorers, there are many places of interest to seek and photos to be taken. Wild life abounds within a short stroll, crocodiles [ friendly of course ] kangaroos wallabies and birds, too many to name.

Another local attraction is the spectacular Morning Glory cloud formation seen in the Gulf between August and December. Gliders and hand gliders migrate to Burketown in these months to surf the Morning Glory.

After you have completed your adventure call in at our kiosk and sample the famous Burketown ‘BARRA BURGER’ or any of our fine foods.
